STATE OF MEXICO TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS AND SAFETY

Before You Travel Internationally
Make sure to plan ahead. Follow all airline requirements as well as any requirements at your destination, including mask wearing, proof of vaccination, testing, or quarantine. Requirements may differ from U.S. requirements. If you do not follow your destination’s requirements, you may be denied entry and required to return to the United States.

What steps do I need to take to protect against Covid-19 as I prepare to travel?
Currently, it is recommended that you do not travel internationally until you are fully vaccinated. Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself from severe disease, slow the spread of COVID-19, and reduce the number of new variants. The CDC encourages you to get a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose if you are eligible.

How can I protect myself and others while traveling?
The following precautions are currently required by airlines, airports and all ground transportation partners in order to remain as safe as possible during your travels to Mexico:

  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when in public.
  • Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet/2 meters (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who is not traveling with you.
  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol).

US TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS AND SAFETY

Air passengers will also be required to confirm in the form of an attestation that the information they present is true.

For the full list of requirements and exemptions, please review the language in the Order.

BEST PRACTICES / GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

What can I do to keep myself and others safe from Covid-19?
The CDC recommends the following precautions to help protect against Covid-19:

  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others.
  • Stay 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.
  • Get a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you.
  • Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.

I’m fully vaccinated, do these precautions still apply?
The CDC considers people fully vaccinated only if they meet the following criteria:

  • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines
    OR
  • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

Guiding Principles for Fully Vaccinated People:

  • Indoor and outdoor activities pose minimal risk to fully vaccinated people.
  • Fully vaccinated people have a reduced risk of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 to unvaccinated people.
  • Fully vaccinated people should still get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Fully vaccinated people should not visit private or public settings if they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the prior 10 days or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Fully vaccinated people should continue to follow any applicable federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations.
